What Love Really Means
Sitting here without Toby on Valentine's Day. He had to work tonight, but that's okay. I'll sit here with my pint-sized Valentine, and we'll eat a Hershey's chocolate bar. In the grand scheme of things, it's just another day. I choose to show my love to Toby everyday, so why should Valentine's be any more special? See guys, here's the thing. I mean, there are times when the phrase,"I still love you, but that doesn't mean I have to like you right now" comes to mind. But, in the end - I can love because Christ first loved me.
Oftentimes I've been told that I am a pushover. I'm naive. I'm going to get taken advantage of because I'm too nice. I could go on, but I won't ;) I've actually been told these things all my life. Nevertheless, I can't help but look for the good in every person. No matter how awful someone treats me, I always remember this truth. God loves them. Let me say that again. GOD LOVES THEM. No matter who they are, or where they came from. He created them. He loves them just as much as He loves you and me. I wish I could see the world as He sees it. But, since I can't ... I will choose to love and serve those all around me. There are days when loving and serving others is harder, and sometimes I fail. But, my daily prayer is to see others as He sees them, so I can show them the love that only He can give.
JJ and Dave Heller recently wrote a song that puts this concept into perspective. We can never know all the circumstances that led a person to be the way he or she is, but what we can do is show them the love of Jesus Christ.
So, on this Valentine's Day - remember all those who do not know what love really means. Pray that their lonely hearts be filled with the love that only comes from the Father.

He cries in the corner where nobody sees
He’s the kid with the story no one would believe
He prays every night, “Dear God won’t you please
Could you send someone here who will love me?”
Who will love me for me
Not for what I have done or what I will become
Who will love me for me
‘Cause nobody has shown me what love
What love really means
Her office is shrinking a little each day
She’s the woman whose husband has run away
She’ll go to the gym after working today
Maybe if she was thinner
Then he would’ve stayed
And she says…
Who will love me for me?
Not for what I have done or what I will become
Who will love me for me?
‘Cause nobody has shown me what love
He’s the kid with the story no one would believe
He prays every night, “Dear God won’t you please
Could you send someone here who will love me?”
Who will love me for me
Not for what I have done or what I will become
Who will love me for me
‘Cause nobody has shown me what love

Not for what I have done or what I will become
Who will love me for me?
‘Cause nobody has shown me what love
What love really means
He’s waiting to die as he sits all alone
He’s a man in a cell who regrets what he’s done
He utters a cry from the depths of his soul
“Oh Lord, forgive me, I want to go home”
Then he heard a voice somewhere deep inside
And it said
“I know you’ve murdered and I know you’ve lied
I have watched you suffer all of your life
And now that you’ll listen, I’ll tell you that I...”
I will love you for you
Not for what you have done or what you will become
I will love you for you
I will give you the love
The love that you never knew
He’s waiting to die as he sits all alone
He’s a man in a cell who regrets what he’s done
He utters a cry from the depths of his soul
“Oh Lord, forgive me, I want to go home”
Then he heard a voice somewhere deep inside
And it said
“I know you’ve murdered and I know you’ve lied
I have watched you suffer all of your life
And now that you’ll listen, I’ll tell you that I...”
I will love you for you
Not for what you have done or what you will become
I will love you for you
I will give you the love
The love that you never knew
"We love Him because He first loved us."
I John 4:19
Who sings that song?
ReplyDeleteJJ Heller :) If you scroll to the bottom of my blog, you can find that song on my playlist. I believe it is #1 on there.
