Another Lesson Learned in Mommy-hood :)
I'm sitting here with my little woman in my lap. We just finished watching "Sid the Science Kid", her favorite show. I looked down just now and found that my sweetie had fallen asleep leaning on a pillow. She was propped up on her little elbow. How sweet. I thought to myself for a second, "What if I just left her like that? She's bound to fall off her hand eventually ... haha, that'd be funny." How mean am I?! I mean, really - what mom thinks that?! Of course, I didn't leave her like that. It was just a passing thought. She's now comfortably resting on my chest as I type this. But, that triggered a funny story that happened this past weekend, so I felt obliged to share ;)
As most of you know, it snowed this weekend. Again. It's supposed to snow even more tomorrow. Snow. Snow. Snow. But, fortunately, Kylie loves the snow, and so do I! We decided to go explore the neighborhood on this past snowy Saturday. Kylie decided that she wanted to take her wagon out first, so that is just what we did. She was having a blast, but she just couldn't seem to get comfortable. She kept switching from one side of the wagon to the other. She finally found a position that was cozy and stayed like that for most of the ride. Here's a visual to get the full effect:
She is such a little ham. My firsts thoughts were, "I need another person so we can hoist her up on our shoulders and carry her around like the princess she apparently thinks she is. All she'll have to worry about is getting the Miss America wave down." She is just too cute and sweet. But, alas ... she eventually grew tired of the wagon. We made it back to our house and she decided that she wanted to take her cozy coupe out for a ride, but first we had to grab Kitty-Kitty (her little half blanket, half stuffed animal thingy that she just thinks the world of) and her milk to go with us.
About halfway around she decided that she wanted to be a big girl and walk. So, we had fun picking up random rocks and twigs. We even built her first snowman!
Our journey then led us to meet a neighbor who owns a cute little dog named Charlie. Now, I love the name Charlie for a dog simply because I used to love 'All Dogs Go to Heaven.' Do y'all remember that movie? The way the little girl always said "Chaaaarlie" is just so cute. Anyway ... Kylie was having a blast playing with little man Charlie and then noticed that there was another puppy in the fence next to us. She, of course, had to check it out. We went to see this puppy and deemed him okay to pet, and he licked our fingers. I finally talked Kylie into going home to see daddy after about 5 minutes of wet puppy dog kisses (she wants a puppy so bad). As we were walking back towards the road, Kylie slipped and fell in the gutter. Luckily she wasn't hurt at all, but she sure got her little booty wet. It was pretty cold Saturday, and we were about 1/2 mile away from the house. I coaxed Kylie into the idea of riding back to the house in her car so that her booty could stay somewhat warm. She finally accepted the idea after I threw in an extra bonus that we'd go 'fast' all the way.
So, we took off. I was running beside her guiding the car with my hand, and she was squealing having a blast. We were about half way back to the house when I noticed her looking up at me. She kept throwing her arm out at my leg for some reason. I jokingly said to her, "Now, Kylie. Keep your hands inside the moving vehicle." See, the little cozy coupe has a lot of road noise, so I couldn't really hear her that well (if at all). So, I kept running, and she kept looking up at me instead of at the road like normal. Her looks grew more and more frantic. I finally slowed her little car to a stop and asked her what was wrong, and boy did I ever get an answer. She frantically begins to point behind her yelling, "KITTY-KITTY! KITTY-KITTY!"
Man, did I feel like a bad mom. I looked behind us and couldn't even spot Kitty-Kitty. She'd been trying to tell me for like 2 minutes that something was wrong, and what did I do? I told her to keep her hands inside the moving vehicle ... haha. Good move. So, we ran back to find her sweet Kitty-Kitty, which was finally spotted almost a 1/4 of a mile back.
So, moral of the story? I may not always be on top of my Mommy game, but I will always love that little girl to pieces. And, next time - I'll listen to her sooner rather than later. It may save me a little running effort. Lesson learned.
I love how the psalmist explains the joy of parenthood:

I know, pathetic, right? But, she had fun building that little miniature snowman!

She still didn't look to keen on the idea in this picture.

I love how the psalmist explains the joy of parenthood:
"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them..."
Psalms 127: 3-5
she is beautiful. she is like God's little princess. she looks just like her mommy. I am impressed that she is learning to drive at an extremely early age! (ha ha!) Yes, she's a big girl.
ReplyDeleteGod has created this little child for greatness, to teach other young women someday about the principles her mommy and daddy have taught. And I believe that she will take great delight in it.
Say hi to her for me, please.
