Daddy's Hands
Josh, my brother-in-law, called today to let us know that my sister-in-law's sweet Granddaddy passed away this morning. He was quite the special man. I only had the privilege of meeting Mr. Rudy at Ann Claire and Josh's wedding. It was Ann Claire's prayer that he and her Grandmother would see her be married one day. He even lived to see Ann Claire make him a Great-Granddaddy with precious Lila Rose. Praise be to God that He is so merciful to us and answers prayers. Mr. Robert, Mrs. Donna, Ann Claire, Mary Ellen, and the rest of the Vaughn family ... you guys are in my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. I was sitting here at the piano, and came across a song that always touches my heart, and today Mr. Rudy was on my mind.
I love my Hubby, Daddy, and Paw-Paw so much. This song hits home for all of them as well. I'm sure most of you can identify. So, please say a prayer for the Vaughn family. It's so incredibly hard losing someone that you love so dearly. But, it's all the more comforting to know that they will rest in the Father's love eternally if they have trusted in His saving grace.
I remember Daddy's hands folded silently in prayer,
and reaching out to hold me when I had a nightmare.
You could read quite a story in the callouses and lines.
Years of work and labor had left their mark behind.
I remember Daddy's hands, how they held my Mama tight
and patted my back for something done right.
There are things that I've forgotten that I loved about the man,
but I'll always remember the love in Daddy's hands.
Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was crying.
Daddy's hands were hard as steel when I'd done wrong.
Daddy's hands weren't always gentle, but I've come to understand,
There was always love in Daddy's hand.
I remember Daddy's hands working 'til they bled,
Sacrificed unselfishly just to keep us all fed.
If I could do things over, I'd live my life again
And never take for granted the love in Daddy's hands.
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there.
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
Job 1:21
