DAISY!

Well, guess what?  Kylie got a new puppy!!!  Not necessarily on our agenda of things to do, but it just kind of happened.  Let me tell you the story :)

Toby and I have been entertaining the idea of getting Kylie a puppy for quite some time now.  We kept putting it off because it just didn't seem feasible to get a puppy when we know we'll be leaving soon.

However, as I was driving through Walmart parking lot on Friday night, I spotted a sign that read, "FREE LAB PUPPIES".  I mean, free?  Really?  Surely not.  I swung it back around because my curiosity was killing me.  I got out to see the puppies only to find that they were indeed little labs.  Not completely full-blooded (their daddy was part lab and some part mut :-D), but nevertheless, they each had a cute little lab face!

The first one I picked up happened to be the one I decided to keep.  She was just so adorably sweet.  She cuddled with me immediately and had a cute little white spot on her chest.  She even had some little white splashes of fur on the tips of her left paws.  I grew quite fond of her in that short moment, but then I bounced back to reality.  Wait.  Hold up.  I hadn't even talked to Toby about this.  Shoot, he was at work!  I could just see it, "Surpise!  We got a puppy while you were gone."  Yeah, that would go over well.  I kept going back and forth.  I debated with myself.  If I got the puppy and Toby didn't like the idea when he got home, surely someone would want a cute little girl pup.  Would he be mad at me?  What if he liked the puppy?  Oh crap, we'd have a puppy that would eventually become a dog.  Do I want another added responsibility?  I'm sure the people trying to give me a free puppy were getting a little impatient.

I finally told them that I'd take her.  I asked if I could run into Walmart real quick to get the essentials (dog food, collar, a bone, you know...), and they agreed.  The whole time in Walmart I was still going back and forth.  I kept telling myself, "You're not completely committed yet.  You don't HAVE to do this."  As I was walking up and down the pet aisle, I realized how expensive this whole puppy thing could be!  My goodness!  I gathered the goods anyway, and headed back out there.  It looked as though the people almost gave up on me.  They were loading up about to leave.  So, I ran over there as quick as I could, and they still had that sweet little puppy.  Whew!  I was relieved, but at the same time not.  Weird feeling.

Upon returning home, Kylie was ecstatic about her new little ball of fur.  She immediately starting hugging her.  Toby came home and fell for the little critter almost instantly, and now the rest is history.  We are now the proud owners of a little puppy named, Daisy!  Or, as Kylie would call her, "Buppies!"  Here are a few snapshots of our new addition :)

The new duo.

SO EXCITED!

She loves toting this little pup around!

Her first night in her new home.

Showing the puppy where she can get her tummy full.

 How cute is she?!

Already posing for the camera.

I'm sure fun times are ahead!  Kylie has already taken on responsibility for this new little woman!  She feeds her, gets her water, helps give her a bath, puts her collar on, watches her while she uses the bathroom outside, etc.  I'm excited that Kylie's excited.  I guess we'll just nickname her 'pet deposit' because that's what she'll be for a while.  But, I am more than happy about grabbing up that free little puppy in Walmart parking lot.  Good decision.  I think.
